Description
Savor History with the oldest Port Wine house
The passage of time brings with it experience, wisdom and insight. Vintage Kopke are, above all, evidence of a unique personality. Bottled after an aging period of 4 to 6 years, the Late Bottled Vintage is an intense ruby that tells the story of an exceptional year that stands out in the long history of the brand.
Winemaking
Hand-picked at their optimum point, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and vinified according to a process that is based on careful maceration with extraction of color, tannins and aromas from the skins, complemented by permanent pumping over during fermentation. This takes place in mills, at a controlled temperature between 28-30ºC, until reaching the desired Baumé degree. At this stage, wine brandy is added (benefit), resulting in a fortified wine. High quality wine, from a single harvest, bottled between the fourth and sixth year after the harvest.
Tasting Notes
Deep purple-black color with a vibrant and intense ruby halo. Nose marked by aromas of ripe wild fruit combined with notes of violets, black pepper and slight sensations of eucalyptus leaf. In the mouth you can feel the firm tannins, highlighting a vibrant and crunchy acidity, where all the elements come together perfectly, leaving flavors of raspberries, blackberries and apricot making the finish of this LBV by Kopke long and lasting in the style of this house .
Recommendations
Absolutely delicious to accompany dark chocolate desserts with berries, mint chocolate cheesecake, laminated red fruit and medium intensity cheeses. Serve at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
